THOMAS DAMBO was born in Denmark in 1979, but currently resides in Copenhagen.
This giant statue is named "Joen and the Giant Beetle". It was constructed in December 2019 during Art Basel. The statue is made entirely of wooden chips and incorporated a car that the statue uses for support. Below is the poem the artist associated with the installation.
"Joen looked at the little people
Sitting in the giant beetle
Always waiting in a line
Spending all their days and time
Joen had seen the giant beetle
Eat and kill the little people
But still, it seemed they loved it so
So much they wouldn't let it go"
